Super Troopers 2

Review by Brandon:

This is the perfect movie to watch on a 4/20 holiday!  If you are a fan of the first Super Troopers, you will not be disappointed by the sequel.  It seems like it has been ages since the Broken Lizard guys have done anything new, and this crowdfunded sequel delivered as much as the original.  The guys do fall back on a lot of the most famous quotable scenes from the original like “liter of cola”, “littering and”, the “meow” shtick and even Farva’s “liter of cola” line gets a throw back.  But there is plenty more new material that will sure be quoted among friends for years to come.

Fired for their previous shenanigans, former Vermont Highway Patrol officers Thorny, Farva, Rabbit, Foster and Mac get a shot at redemption from Capt. O’Hagan and Gov. Jessan. The wacky quintet must provide law enforcement for a French Canadian town that’s transitioning to U.S. sovereignty. Their unconventional methods soon get put to the test when they encounter a smarmy mayor (played by Rob Low), mischievous Mounties, a smuggling ring and a 1,300-pound bear.

With a premise like this, it’s no surprise that the Super Troopers spend a lot of their energy bashing on the Canadians, but who doesn’t love that?

A few scenes to look forward to that had me in stitches include:

– The troopers testing unmarked drugs just to catalog what they are by feeling their effects.  One of the troopers gets addicted to a female sex drug and slowly turns into a woman.

– Rob Lowe’s character runs a brothel/bar in Canada and the fight scene that takes place involves plenty of nudity.  It did not disappoint.

– The interaction between the Troopers, posing as Mounties to tarnish their image around town, pull over an American couple and pretend like French-Canadian is their first language.  Their entire interaction with the couple is hilarious.

– A ton of mindless, physical and immature comedy that will entertain those who refuse to grow up… like me.

You don’t have to be a stoner to appreciate this movie on 4/20, but it would certainly help.  Go see Super Troopers 2! Thumbs up!
