Review: Kacey Musgraves

Dawn’s Review Of Kacey Musgraves:

She’s been around a few years but considered one of the newer ones in Country music that is helping to change the landscape just a bit. I’m not talking so much about her music style, she can sound pretty darn country while also having a sound that non country fans enjoy!! Thats why I  wasn’t surprised at all that she won the All Genre Album of the Year this past week at the Grammy’s. Her music is pretty freaking good and oh my gosh her voice is beautiful.

Kacey Musgraves was born and raised in a small East Texas town..Golden, Texas. Now don’t get me wrong I LOVE Texas but there are parts of that State that can be a little backwards, East Texas being one of them, at least thats what every Texan I ran into had to say about East Texas. When you read about the town it sounds like a really neat small Country town but there were just things she wasn’t exposed to, and  LGBTQ was one of them…so when I say she is helping to change the landscape of the Country scene that is one way in which she is doing so.

We now have Country singers who can be advocates for the LGBTQ Community, that can express feelings of wanting some Gun Control, can say Happy Indigenous People’s Day, while still keeping Fans who may disagree with their views, its a beautiful thing! Us country fans are more open than I think the picture people paint of us ‘rednecks!!’ And artists like Kacey Musgraves most definitely have a place in Country music.

This song of hers, Rainbow from her award winning album Golden Hour, is so beautiful, she is somewhat of a Guardian Angel in the Video which shows different hard times that people are going thru, she also had this to say about the song.

While Musgraves has said repeatedly that the song is intended for anyone going through a difficult time, she recently told Taste of Country that she hopes the song also serves as an anthem for her LGBTQ fans. “I feel a kinship and a friendship with that community,” she said. “They really opened my eyes up to a lot of different things that I wasn’t aware of growing up in a small town in Texas. I will always be an ally and a strong supporter.” https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/country/8497772/kacey-musgraves-rainbow-music-video

I really hope you enjoy it, and her whole album is worth checking out!
