Friday night (October 26th, 2018) was the official “coming out party,” of the new and improved Hughey Phillips law firm!
The invitation-only event was held at David Garibaldi’s “War on Walls,” studio in midtown Sacramento
Throughout the studio are David’s various works
In the end, over 100 people were on hand for a night of food, drink, fun and entertainment
One of the guests was Chris Moenig, who was Kevin’s original partner when they opened up in Sacramento. Immediately after taking this picture my wife said to me “babe, he makes you look so short.”
Most importantly, of course, David Garibaldi himself was on hand. He has been a longtime fan and supporter of RAD and he, like me, is proud to have Kevin Hughey as his personal and business attorney so he was happy to host the event
The highlight of the evening was David performing for us all as he, as he always does, took blank canvas and free styled his way to…who knows what
If you’ve never seen David perform, its quite the sight to behold. He feeds off the crowd and his music, and few people ever correctly guess what he’s painting
At this point, my wife and I were convinced it was a portrait of President Obama
And, like usual, we were clearly wrong…that is NOT Obama. Thanks, Garibaldi
By now, Johnny Cash music is playing and the picture is apparent to all (although in between Obama and Cash there were many “Elvis” guesses)
Whenever David is done, he does he patented leap slap (that’s my term, not his), where he applies his signature palm print to his painting
Up next were the reasons for the evening, Kevin Hughey and new partner Noah Phillips briefly addressed the crowd…thank God Kevin let Noah do the talking
At this point it was clear he was painting the new Hughey Phillips logo
The painting will hang in the entryway of the Hughey Phillips office. A great evening and great beginning to their new chapter!
