Our newest family member, Callie the Sheprador, is still waiting to come home permanently and spent a few days at Dogwoods Resort last week playing and scratching her back
One thing Theresa, who runs Dogwoods, learned right away is that Callie is a water dog through and through as she took right to it
And she had fun horsing around while getting wet
After a few days of fun, we picked her up and took her to the vet to get spayed
She’s getting a little better at the showbiz dog things in terms of posing for pictures
Afterwards, my wife Christina and I picked Callie up to take her back to Dogwoods for her recovery. Christina even rode in the backseat of the truck with her
Drugs are good
I know from experience…that’s good lap right there…she’s a lucky girl
Back at Dogwoods, where she’ll be able to heal in peace, Theresa took her
The drugs have clearly not worn off still
The process of Christina saying goodbye took a bit and there’s a reason you can’t see my wife’s face…allergies were bad that day
Time for safety…Callie can’t have access to her incision, so on with the cone!
There’s a reason they call it the “cone of shame”
We left her with Theresa Friday night in a very comfy spot to rest and be comfy while Theresa worked with the other dogs and kept an eye on Callie
By Monday, Theresa reports that she was a “Tazmanian devil,” wanting to play, but still not physically able to safely, so she got to watch other dogs while on leash
Her full recovery is 10-ish days and then she finally gets to come home!
