After multiple attempts to watch Zack Snyder’s Justice League, clocking in at a little over 4 hours of runtime, I’m happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed.  The original version released in 2017 is a totally different experience compared to Snyder’s cut.  With the addition of new and updated content within the film, it felt a lot more satisfying than the last.  Admittedly, there are points in the film that I found myself getting distracted by checking emails or scrolling through social media because let’s face it, sitting still for 4 hours is tough for most of us to do.  Even if the movie was non-stop, edge of your seat entertaining.  I’d lose about 10-15 minutes into my phone, then I would look up only to find that I had missed a lot of action and/or key moments in the plot that needed further explanation.   This happened about 2-3 times in the total of two sittings that it took to finish this flick.  Overall, I really did enjoy the Snyder cut vs the 2017 theatrical version.  There was a lot more time to expand on each character’s angle, giving each scene a lot more depth.   In turn, I felt a lot more invested into each character vs the rush job in the previous release that left me wanting more.  Visually, it appeared as though Snyder applied a new Instagram filter to his version giving the film a much darker feel.  There’s also a nice disclaimer at the beginning explaining that you’ll enjoy the movie in a smaller visual format to retain the artistic vision of the director.  You quickly adjust to the lack of “full-screen” mode in its 4:3 format, reminiscent of the days before HD-TV.

The more time that passes after I watched Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the more moments I remember and I’ll definitely be watching it again.  There’s a ton of action and loads of eye candy.  The special effects are top-notch and the villains are outstanding.  Ben Affleck is still the worst Batman of all time, but he is tolerable when he is playing Bruce Wayne.  I’m interested to hear more reviews over the coming weeks to see if anyone feels the same as I did.  Thumbs up!
