Review: I Care A Lot (Netflix)

Producer Brandon’s Review of

“I Care A Lot”

currently streaming on Netflix:

If you are looking for a dark thriller/comedy, look no further than “I Care A Lot” starring Rosamund Pike, Peter Dinklage, Dianne West (and more), no streaming on Netflix.  The trailers/descriptions don’t do enough justice to this film.  Throughout the film, you find yourself rooting for the good guys, then the bad guys, then there are multiple twists throughout the movie that feel reminiscent of a Shakespearean tragedy.   There are actually four separate “acts” to this story that have completely different vibes all wrapped into one film. This psychological thriller bombards viewers with a ton of profane language, violence and a complete disregard for any sense of morality.  Between court appointed caretakers taking advantage of wards of the state to the Russian mafia, I Care A Lot is a parable of power!  Are you a lion or are you a lamb?

Marla Grayson (Rosamund Pike) has made a mint selling off the assets of the dozens of senior citizens who are trapped in her permanent care. She and her partner Fran (Eiza González) stumble upon a veritable golden goose in the form of Jennifer Peterson (Dianne Wiest), a mark with no apparent family or debt, only a tidy fortune to be mined.

However, while their scam is underway, Marla and Fran discover that Ms. Peterson is not who they thought she was, and that their actions have disturbed the designs of a crime lord (Peter Dinklage), who will stop at nothing to protect his mother.

You will be surprised by the ending, and it is so satisfying!  Big thumbs up!
