During our winter vacation, my wife and I made a weekend trip to Reno, driving through the endless view of snow covered everything
We tried to capture just how much snow was piled up on the side of the roads…many road signs were almost completely covered
Check out how far up this Semi the snow bank goes!
We were in Reno for a weekend at the Grand Sierra Resort
We had a great room for our quick trip which basically consisted of my wife, Christina studying for law school while I watched golf on TV, and us going out at night. Good times.
When I was bored with being ignored by my wife, I looked out the windows and the GSR had an ice rink set-up! No, I did not go and make a fool of myself
You can always spot a classy hotel bathroom when there’s gorgeous tile covering almost everything
For dinner, we headed down to Charlie Palmer Steakhouse inside the GSR
Happy to have a break from Studying, Christina and I settled in…
…and first things first…a cocktail! Hey! Check out the one on the bottom
Of course we ordered up a couple (or more) Tahoe Blues and got the night started
When you go to a steakhouse, you order steak. Period. (And potatoes, yeah, yeah)
The main reason we were in town was to see R&B singer Toni Braxton, one of the many things Christina and I each separately loved before meeting each other. Neither of us had ever seen her…unfortunately I was only able to score 4th row tickets. What a loser
As with Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, and others, Toni Braxton has a large following of gay men…two of whom were seated next to my wife and they promptly stole her away from me. Our before-the-show chat time was instead her talking to them because she’s too sweet not to, and me looking like an idiot next to a gorgeous woman fiddling with his phone
Eventually she took the stage…and she sucked. No, seriously, it was massively disappointing. The best thing I can say is that she has an amazing pianist and drummer.
Not only did she let her back-up singers sing almost all of her songs while she just provided breath noises, she even brought loser fans out of the crowd to sing one of her most popular songs! BOOOOOOO!
SIT DOWN YOU IDIOT
Upon returning home, I went on a ride-along with officer Pat, RAD security chief and part of the Sac Sherriff’s department. This is Pat months ago (it’s bad form to take pictures during a ride-along. Deal with it)
Later in the week my dad came up for a couple days to play a ton of cribbage, eat great food and enjoy his only and favorite son. This is a picture of him last year at our wedding as I didn’t remember to take any while he was here. Shoot me.
On the final weekend, Christina and I got all dressed up for a dinner with friends in Midtown
Ok, I lied. We weren’t having dinner with friends, it was a business dinner with Doofus, the station manager of 98 ROCK in Sacramento, his wife, and Sporty Spice, the General Manager and her husband. They’re not pictured because they’re radio people for a reason.
