This is what a typical morning looks like while on vacation. Every day I log in remotely to the RAD Radio Studio from the hotel room to make sure that everything is running on time and fixing any issues listeners may have. Look at that mountain range of back muscles!
After we visited Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls, Idaho, it was time to venture out to visit some friends in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The first thing you notice when entering Idaho from Northern Nevada is the lush green fields and crops. Farmers seemed to be watering constantly. Just the right amount of humidity.
This photo is for Dawn! I kept an eye out for silos since that is one of her favorite things. No silos but loads of wind turbines!
Idaho has a wide variety of terrain as you drive 30 minutes in any direction and you go from crops and farms, to high desert and plateaus.
Hey look! Here I am with my wife and our friends Mr. & Mrs. Horny (aka Rick & Shannon)! They were featured in a previous episode of the RAD Prodcast and they were kind enough to let us stay at their home for a night on our way to Yellowstone! We maintained our 6 ft. distance while visiting, of course. Also, a big shout out to Mr. & Mrs. Horny as they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary this week! Congratulations!
While visiting our friends in Idaho, on their sprawling property, they have these wild mushrooms growing in their backyard.
What kind of mushrooms are you growing there in Idaho?
Say hello to Keeva! This is one of Mr. & Mrs. Horny’s 3 dogs. She is a cream retriever, and she is just the happiest dog ever!
Keeva never stops smiling!
Even when she is telling ghost stories!
We have arrived in Yellowstone, and of course we had to watch the planet “release” in front of a crowd of people.
Thar she blows!!!!
That’s a huge load… of geyser water.
Impressive, isn’t it? I know, it’s more impressive in person.
Surrounding Old Faithful are various smaller geysers and natural prismatic pools.
The water was unbelievably clear in most of the pools. They may look inviting, but they can be highly acidic and will likely burn your flesh off.
The various shades of color, texture, steam and bubbling water is mesmerizing.
Mrs Brandon was never far away capturing the beauty around us.
Once inside Yellowstone National Park, there are various turnouts and different sites to see that allow you to get right on top of the springs, pools, rock formations, and other natural geological masterpieces.
I’m just going to let the photos speak for themselves for a bit…
That little white ball at the end of what looks like a selfie stick is actually at 360 camera that can take 360 photos/video, creating a VR experience. Those videos coming soon!
Is that a “no-no” spot?
I can’t get over how crystal clear and blue the water was in some of these pools.
I just wanted to take a dip! But I also want to keep my skin…
There is a lot of inspiration here for those who want to build custom in-ground pools.
You don’t want to rush! Take as long as you like to take in all the beauty around you.
There was plenty of wildlife to see, including herds of bison! This guy was spotted on our 2nd stop in the park!
What did the buffalo say to his son when he left for college? Bison.
I think this is where the inspiration for the TV show Deadwood came from.
Gotta get the right selfie for the insta-snap-face!
This is what I looked like most of the time, looking through the camera.
Capturing the world around me in photographs is like meditating… it’s never too late to get better at something.
In Round 3, I’ll have Day 2 of our time Yellowstone!
