My sister in law and I are HUGE fans of Fixer Upper with Joanna and Chip Gaines they live in Waco Texas so we took a drive there stopped at a Texas Trading Post first and then headed to the Gaines’s Magnolia store so awesome! The place was totally packed this was the only photo I could really get inside cause there were just too many people!

Road trip continues!! This is the same day we spent in Green Bay and Milwaukee before heading to Chicago!
When we got to Chicago it was late afternoon, we decided we would go on the Sunset Architectural Boat Tour while we waited we hung out in the lobby bar of our hotel had some complimentary meat, cheese and wine they brought us!

That’s right the first thing we all wanted to do was go to a bar have some drinks and enjoy some damn good bar food!! So excited to see Erin we have been friends since we were 24 years old! She’s a 5th generation Nevadan but for her career she’s moved to Minnetonka just outside of Minneapolis, she loves it there! Even the winters she loves!!!

Woke up to this beautiful scenery outside our bedroom window at Erin’s place so tranquil and green!! Yes I am noticing all the green on this trip cause where we live in Ca it’s just brown dry and ugly right now!!

Day 1 of our road trip continues as we head to Kansas….On Day 1 we went from Texas to Oklahoma, to Kansas to Kansas City Missouri where we slept for the night…

Hello Missouri, Kansas City Missouri! Seriously what a neat town, who knew??!! They say that’s what people end up saying that are just making it a pit stop, my hubby and I for sure want to come back since that’s what we made it this trip just a quick sleep over city..

Well this is fancy pants! The Hotel provides a driver for free to take us where we want to go, dude driver was SO nice and awesome!
The majority of folks said we should go to Q39, it’s a local BBQ favorite it was a really cute place! It was getting close to closing time so we got our food to go..

HOLY SHIT!! This BBQ was AMAZING!! And that’s hard for me to say because I thought nothing could come close to the Texas BBQ I have had in Texas but holy crap this stuff comes pretty damn close! And the sides mac n cheese, coleslaw and beans some of the best sides I have had hands down winners in that department!!

Dawn’s Summer Vacation Road Trip Photos – Round 1
Road trippen!! Gary and I LOVE road trips. Our close friend Erin is a 5th generation Nevadan, so when she told us she was leaving Nevada for Minnesota for her career we knew we had to come and visit her, and we did so with a road trip!! Thought I would show you our route…Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Erin’s house in Minnesota. Then when we left her place our route back was Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and back to Texas. We had some stops along the way and for the next few weeks I will be rolling out those photos!

To get to Texas to start our road trip we flew, here we are at the Sacramento Airport happy to be leaving soon!
Here we are in Denver for our connecting flight to Austin, yes there are NO direct flights from Sacramento to Austin you have to connect somewhere..

Since our route thru Oklahoma took us by the town of Tishomingo which happens to be where Miranda Lambert’s first Pink Pistol store is (her second is in Lindale Texas where she grew up and yes I’ve been to that store!) so hellloooo of course we had to stop in and take a little break from driving!!
