The Hitman’s Bodyguard

Review by Brandon:

While the wait for Deadpool 2 is nearly over, I decided to brush up on a Ryan Reynolds movie that I never got around to seeing last year.  The Hitman’s Bodyguard, which co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, mother f***er!  The critics weren’t thrilled and the current rating is a mere 40% on Rotten Tomatoes.  I don’t always agree with the critics and sometimes Rotten Tomatoes can be just as wrong.  Both got it wrong on this one.  The Hitman’s Bodyguard was a hit and got some genuine gut laughs out of me.

Here’s the rundown: The world’s top protection agent is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world’s most notorious hit men. The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their journey from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator (played by Gary Oldman) who is out for blood.

There is a ton of action and plenty of good humor delivered by both Reynolds and Jackson.   The action is great, but the bickering and chemistry between the two is hilarious.  In fact, if you are familiar with the movie Crank starring Jason Statham, you will be reminded of the same over-the-top action and humor mixture that leaves you laughing and rolling your eyes at the ridiculousness.  If you come across The Hitman’s Bodyguard, you won’t regret it.  Enjoy! Thumbs up!
