On Saturday, January 26th, 2019, over 300 maggots came out to the sold out Tahoe Blue Vodka Cocktail Contest at Half Time Bar & Grill in Rocklin, CA! Five recipes submitted by listeners were carefully chosen to compete against each other for cash prizes including $250 for the “Maggots Choice” and $1,000 awarded by the 3 celebrity judges, Kevin Hughey (of Hughey Phillips LLP ), Matt (CEO of Tahoe Blue Vodka ) and Preston Hanford III (Owner/operator of Hanford Sand & Gravel ). Live music was provided by The Stormcasters and fun was had by all. The five recipes for all five cocktails in the competition are listed below the photo gallery.

The Tahoe Sand & Gravel was our 2nd place winner of the evening!
The Lick Her Peach Right ran away with both the Maggot’s Choice & Judges’ award adding up to $1250 in cash prizes for Nicole! She gave $250 to her bartender! What a class act.

The maggots started mingling right away and Mrs Brandon couldn’t help but show off pictures of Opie the Germand Shepherd Puppy.

Tahoe Blue Cocktail Contest Recipes:
1st Place (and Maggot’s Choice Award) – The Lick Her Peach Right from Maggot Nicole
2 ounces Tahoe Blue Vodka
1 ounce Peach Liqueur
1 ounce Sloe Gin
5 ounces Orange Juice
Fill Shaker with ice and add all ingredients. Shake well and serve over ice.
2nd Place – Tahoe Sand & Gravel from Maggot Adam G.
2 ounces Tahoe Blue Vodka
1.5 ounces Baileys
1.5 ounces Kahlua
Shake with ice
Optional: dip the rim in chocolate syrup and then dip in crushed Hershey’s Cookies n Cream, to create the “Sand and Gravel” effect.
3rd Place – The RADsberry Blue-Tini from Maggot Anne
1.5 ounces Tahoe Blue Vodka
1 ounce Simple Syrup
2/3 ounce Chambord
2/3 ounce Cointreau
1/2 ounce fresh squeezed Lemon Juice
Shake all ingredients in shaker with ice, strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with lemon wheel and skewer of raspberries.
Beautiful Ol Blue from Maggot Adam S.
1/2 ounce Tahoe Blue Vodka
1/2 ounce Amaretto
1/2 ounce Chambord
1 splash of 7UP or Sprite
1 splash of sour mix
This is intended to be a shooter
The Green Kamama from Maggot Cheyenne
1.5 ounces Tahoe Blue Vodka
1.5 ounces Sour Apple Liqueur
1 ounce Lime Juice
3 ounces of Sprite
Optional garnishes: Lime wedge and/or slice of apple.
