Last week, we put in wood floors downstairs at Williams Manor so the house was tore up from the floor up…literally
The 3 days of chaos were worth it as we love the way they look!
We did the two rooms we use the most, the family room and the game room
Plus, woos floors are so much easier to keep clean with now 4 (FOUR) dogs
And speaking of the dogs…we took advantage of rescue dog Callie (left) still being at Dogwoods getting socialized with our pack and experiencing fun, playful moments like this with Maestro
The classic Shepherd stand-off poses
In fact, we brought Scout and Nellie home for the weekend and let Maestro and Callie get to know each other better…Scout immediately assumed the “Dog-Woods Resort,” Coma.
Nellie, meanwhile, came home with her usual layer of dogwoods dirt, which, when combined with her bed and the news floors made her Camo Nellie
Scout is the only dog allowed on the sofa for reasons of maintaining the pecking order (he’d bow down to a snail if saw one, so we elevate his presence intentionally to let the shepherds know he’s not to be bossed around). Plus, as a full Lab, love is his jam so he spent Saturday watching the Master’s with me.
Attitude! It’s like I’m disturbing him by taking his picture
Caught in the act singing: “Annnnnnnnnnnddddddddddd IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII (will always love you)…..”
Meanwhile, back at Dogwoods, Maestro and Callie are running up a storm and she is tiring him out!

And they got some good solid playtime as well: VIEWER WARNING: yes, this is what safe, positive play between two large, assertive dogs looks like. Those who think otherwise are beyond stupid

On Sunday, we brought them home and just to be safe, rather than stuff them in the closed quarters of the back of my pick-up unattended, as they continue to get to know each other, I sat back there with them. There were no issues or incidents
In fact, the only horrifying thing about the trip home was that my wife Christina was driving!
Once home at Williams Manor, the 4 of them meandered around while getting used to being in the home together
Since Callie is half Shepherd, half Labrador, Scout appealed to her by showing her his favorite room in the house; the kitchen of course. And she immediately tried to figure out how to eat our spices
This was the greatest part of the day…within an hour of bringing them all home, I had them all sitting and waiting (even Callie, which believe me is a work of Rob) as they stared at their dinner. We stayed like this for more than 5 minutes
Later, Callie was chilling with me in my home office…and I’m only posting this picture so you creepers can zoom in on things like “what brand computer paper,” I buy and “what’s in Rob’s closet?” weirdos.
The work is starting to pay off already. Tuesday morning as Christina was studying for law school, Callie and Maestro cuddled together at her feet.
