Brandon’s Review:
If you and your family are looking for an escape, look no further than Jumanji: The Next Level the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. At first, I was hesitant about this franchise reboot from the 1995 starring Robin Williams. In the newly re-imagined franchise, instead of a board game, each of the characters are sucked into a video game console to keep up with the times. Each of the kids in the movie are transformed into the major star’s like Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan as their avatars. In Welcome To The Jungle, the funniest transformation was when the teenage girl assuemd the role of Jack Black (who nails his interpretation of a vapid teenager). In The Next Level, the funniest transformation is when Danny DeVito (grandpa of the main character) is transformed into Dwayne Johnson, who does a hilarious impression of Danny DeVito for most of the film. The second funniest is when Danny Glover transforms into Kevin Hart, who also does a hilarious impression of Danny Glover, letting his high pitched screaming antics rest for once. The plot is not important, but the basic gist is that they all have to work as a team, within this video game world of Jumanji, to collect a stone and put it back in its rightful place from an evil bad guy, a la Indiana Jones. Jumanji: The Next Level has a basic plot with a lot of funny moments throughout. During these difficult times, while we are stranded at home and the limited choices for new content, you’ll be pleasantly entertained by this mindless adventure. And it’s fun for the whole family! Thumbs up.
