Dawn's Biography

Holy cow!! As of this writing I’ve been in radio for 30 years, 30 years, craziness!! And poor Rob, I have worked for him for all of those 30 years…LOL!!!!

I was 21 years old and ready to do whatever was asked of me, work overnights, bring people coffee, clean toilets whatever was needed…start from the bottom and work my way up! In the beginning the pay wasn’t great and the struggle was real..but I didn’t care I was LOVING what I was doing and working 7 days a week for 15 hours and more a day was well worth it!

30 years later the pay is MUCH better, I am much older hahaha, but the crazy thing is I will still do what needs to be done and work whatever hours are needed because I still LOVE what I am doing!

Thinking back to when Rob asked me to be a part of the Morning show, still makes me giggle….This was back in 1998 and I was Promotions Director for KDOT (station we are still on in Reno!! ) and their Classic Rock Station. I had decided I didn’t want to be on air anymore and was thoroughly enjoying working behind the scenes. Makes me giggle cause I wanted NOTHING to do with mornings. I didn’t care it was the coveted position in Radio. I hated hated hated getting up early I was a night person. Rob as you know is very persuasive so I said what the hell I will give it a try but if I don’t like it I can just go back to behind  the scenes right!!??! Well we all know what happened..I fell in love with it!

A lot of heart, soul, tears, laughter and hard ass work have gone into making the RAD Show so damn successful for all these years. It’s mind blowing, it’s hard to comprehend sometimes. To say I feel blessed just isn’t a strong enough word. The fact that you, the beyond AMAZING listeners, have stuck with us from the beginning to now with ALL the changes that have happened throughout these years is appreciated more than you can know.

Dear Lord I’ve spent a couple years from my 20’s, all my 30’s and 40’s and now early 50’s doing the RAD Show. Soooooo much has happened during all that time not only on the show but in my personal life. And you were there for ALL of it.

Bad boyfriends, bad break ups, the boobie hatch (lol that’s for you long time listeners lol!!) All my Therapy…all my therapy for all the things lol!! Childhood crap, body image issues, eating disorder, my never ending weight/fitness journey,  abusive relationsips, self love issues….. Remember when I thought my whole world had ended when my first engagement imploded. Then 3 years later I married the love of my life, Gary!!!!! The absolute best thing that has happened in my life being married to my best friend, my rock, my everything!! God always knows what he’s doing, Thank God!!

You were there when I couldn’t get pregnant and had to come to terms with that…losing my Mother and Mother in law within 9 months of each other….this one still hurts. We’ve gone thru it all together as you were also dealing with some of the same things.

Obviously there have been numerous joyful and happy times, it’s just those tough ones really have created this special bond we get to have with you, it’s pretty amazing!

As I think about all the chapters of the RAD Show from 1998 to present time.  Each one has meant a lot to me. They have all served a very important purpose with the RAD journey. Our most recent chapter is pretty freaking special, I am having so much fun!

Brandon’s been through a majority of those chapters with Rob and I and it’s been beautiful watching him grow up and become the amazing Man he is, literally, he was 19 when he started working for the Show! And it’s been a blessing watching him grow throughout his personal and professional journey.

The most recent addition to the show is Queenie and Kyle. Oh my gosh I love Kyle, he is so sweet yet can say some of the most off the wall stuff that just make my head turn and my soul laugh! And Queenie, who is my niece…I mean wow just wow, it’s surreal doing the show with her! Who knew, I mean really what a crazy blessing! She is beyond talented, more talented than I at her age that’s for sure! I’m excited to continue to watch her fantastical growth both personally and professionally!

And what can I say about our Leader Rob! Working for him for 30 years should tell you exactly how I feel about him! You don’t work for someone for 30 years unless you have deep respect, trust and love for that person, he’s the Brother I never had and the absolute best boss anyone could have!

Again I can’t thank you enough for listening to us for all these years, and in many cases the listening has been generational!! It’s a special bond we don’t take for granted!! XOXO!
